Sketching your screens.
A wireframe is a rough sketch of what your product looks like — boxes and labels, no colours, no styling, no detail.
Deliberately ugly, and that's the point. A wireframe takes two minutes to draw and two seconds to throw away. A built screen takes an hour and hurts to delete.
So make your mistakes on paper, where they're free.
If you're building in Python with no interface, this still applies — your "screens" are what gets printed.
Sketch exactly what the user sees:

Writing that out now means you've decided the wording, the order and the layout before you're deep in code and tempted to accept whatever comes out first.
